Hello hello!
The garage sale this past Saturday was a great success! I didn't sell everything which is ok because we will be having another garage sale this coming Saturday! People have donated more things for this Saturday plus we will be selling food and water/soda...
I also sold my Africa shirts at church this past Sunday morning, thank you everyone for your support and donations...it means sooo much to me! I love you all :)
So, all I can do is continue to try! I have a little over $2,000 for my trip and I need $6,000 more.. I am still trying to sell my car (2008 Scion tC) ... so here we go!
I've learned a lot in this whole process... I've learned that I need to wait IN God and not ON God. I just need to be obedient and trust that He will come through... because He always does! However, it's hard when all I want is to leave NOW! But, it's not about me, it's about Him and His plan. This "Lesson Plan" he has come up with for me is pretty tough... but I'm learning so much from it all. It's funny to look at where He has taken me within the past year. I'm so thankful I'm back in His arms. :)
Well, that's the little update for now :) Thank you everyone for your support, prayers, donations, etc. Lots of Love!!
Kelly
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI met you, briefly, on campus today. I'm happy to read about your ambition for the Lord and his work overseas. Can you tell me a little more about what you will be doing while in South Africa?
Thanks!
Hannah
Hey Hannah!
ReplyDeleteSorry it took me so long to respond, the internet isn't working at my house :(
In South Africa I will be completing the Discipleship Training School (DTS) for Youth With a Mission... what that means (lol) is..
YWAM describes DTS as:
DTS is an intensive, residential training course which begins with an 11 or 12 week classroom phase, followed by an 8-12 week outreach. DTS emphasizes cross-cultural exposure and global awareness, preparing students to answer the call to "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28:19.
So we will be taking different courses throughout those weeks... and then our outreach will be in South Africa and we also have the option to go to Asia. I'm not sure where I will be doing my outreach now... I'm going to let God guide me in whichever direction once I get Throughout this time we will have prayer/worship time, local outreach, work duties, small groups, one on one mentoring, and lots of other fun things.
The reason I'm going is to pretty much find the purpose God has for my life. I've always loved missions, but am I called to be a missionary? I'm not really sure.. but I'm super excited to learn more about God and to strengthen my relationship with him.
I'm hoping to leave at the end of March... this next week will determine that, ack!!
Thanks for commenting :)
Talk to you later,
Kelly
There are some videos on YWAM Muizenberg's website that probably describes what I'll be doing there better than I did :)
